Ports of L.A./L.B. lead the count in TEUs

  • As of Q3 2016, the 4 largest U.S. ports in terms of total TEUs are Los Angeles/Long Beach (11.5 million), New York/New Jersey(4.6 million), Savannah (2.7 million), and Seattle/Tacoma (2.6 million).
  • The Port of Los Angeles’ activity remains strong, with a 5.25 percent increase in total TEUs, whereas the Port of Long Beach recorded a 4.8 percent decrease in TEU volume since October of last year.
  • Port activity has increased 11.7 percent for Savannah since October 2015, and decreased 3.5 percent for New York/New Jersey and 0.5 percent for Seattle/Tacoma.
